Intentional Living
Welcome to my first Blog on Intentional Living. This is my personal Blog about the lessons, the heartache and the celebrations I experience in living a life aligned with values and pursuing my life’s purpose.
As a coach I feel it is important that I ‘walk the talk’, if I am coaching other people to achieve their goals, be proactive in their lives and ‘play big’, then I must do the same. I will share with you defining moments and incorporate tips to support you on your own journey. After each Blog it is my intention that you will be inspired to lead a fulfilled and purpose driven life; owning your values and living your vision.
Today as I write I am grateful to have found my ‘life’s purpose’ or as Jim Collins the author of Good to Great calls it, ‘Hedgehog’. Collins explains that your Hedgehog is when your passion and genius unite.
Ask yourself the following questions to define your Hedgehog:
1. What can you be the best at in the world?
2. What drives your economic engine?
3. What are you deeply passionate about?
When I entered the seminar room at my first Coaches Training Institute (CTI) course I knew I found my home. Finally there was a community of people who spoke the same language and whose mission; ‘to find their life’s purpose and pursue it’ was authentically aligned with my own. I moved through the foundational courses and then certification with an openness to learn, do the work and come out on the other end as a powerful coach. During this transformative learning experience I was COO of an event marketing company which my business partner and I merged into a multi-media agency where I was eager to use my coaching skills and make the shift from marketing and operations into people and culture.
Coaching the managers and key players within the organization while developing people programs aligned with the corporate values, mission and vision was incredibly fun, challenging and rewarding. In this arena I learned that merging my marketing/communications background, passion for people and leadership skills made up the ingredients for new solutions that I now offer in my Leadership & Life Coaching business.
‘Who would've thunk it’; my natural gifts of intuition, listening, leadership, openness/warmth and creativity (now honed (and I will continue to do so)) combined with my business and life experience are now how I make my living. They say; “If you love what you do, you'll never work a day in your life". This is the truth and the reason why ‘intentional living’ and being in pursuit of finding your purpose is critical to a happy existence.
To clarify, you may not know what it is you are intended to be doing but my hunch is that you do have a inkling about what you are passionate about…so move in that direction and by pursuing your passion(s), your purpose will be uncovered. This takes time, perseverance, hard-work and a positive outlook. Be patient with yourself and the process but be hasty in your intent of your pursuit and never give it up.
If you are interested in what you have just read come back here on a bi-monthly basis to learn more about my pursuit and lessons I learn along the way.
This is my life. It’s been an intentional journey and I would like to share it with you….
